Tomasito(Tom McEacharon) is an artist, graphic designer and good friend of mine. SendMeYourMagazines would like to feature his website, which brings you image content highlighting new adult niche markets. The portion of his site I would like to cover today: Gnomes.
Tomasito tackles a concept that has, until recently, went away with the 8-track. Gnomes are often considered passe, a theme that should be avoided since it only sells lawn ornaments. But gnomes are a fun, interesting mythical creature from a world of lush colorful wildlife. Remember "David the Gnome"? Currently the Gnome give off a vibe that really could appeal to a wide variety of people if marketed correctly. Proof of the upcoming popularity is the recent movie, "Gnomeo & Juliet" which came out to theatres this year.
The problem with the Gnome is that they have to overcome a stigma. They have been labeled as children's story material since they are so bright, cheery and dopey. Tomasito's small collection of images has the potential to be the trendsetter in a more mature themed gnome media and merchandise. It is only a matter of time before the American public find out how badass Gnome's are! I feel Tomasito really brings a grunge style that adds a deeper, darker perspective into how gnome groups interact. Beyond perfect, happy forest dwellers, Tom gives them a human quality that makes it feel real. He enhances them by using sexy imagery, motorcycles, and bold colors. Bravo!
View his website yourself and send him an email if you like his stuff!
